Cheap Thrills in Branson

What to do in Branson besides the expensive shows and theme parks, here’s the list. Most of these are FREE or at a low cost!

Branson Landing Light Show

Branson Landing along Lake Taneycomo has a number of shops, restaurants, and even a large fountain. According to the Bransonlanding.com website, the fountain performances include 120-foot geysers and flames along with the music.

Hours: Performances start at noon and go to 10 pm Monday through Friday and on Sundays until 9 pm. The shows run approximately three minutes on the hour.

A huge store that you can spend a lot of time exploring home décor, gifts, and many Branson souvenirs, also, you can find collections of arrowheads, a Baseball Wall of Fame and trainsets with two that run overhead.

Dewey Short Visitor Center

Exhibits at the visitor center include a state-of-the-art interactive map of Table Rock Lake and a replica of an Ozarks bluff complete with local flora and fauna. A Native American artifact exhibit and Ozark’s dioramas are fascinating features of the interpretive center.

An interactive water safety exhibit demonstrates the importance of wearing a life jacket, and an expansive cut-away model reveals the inner workings of a hydroelectric dam.

Fish hatchery

Shepard of the Hills Fish Hatchery

It is the largest trout-rearing facility operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The hatchery includes a free conservation center, where the public can learn more about trout culture, aquatic life and fishing

Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm; Closed Sunday – Monday.

Entrance to the Lakeside Wilderness Area

Lakeside Wilderness Area

It is 140 acres of wooded and rugged hill country and 5.3 miles of trails. Both visitors and local citizens can enjoy this unique park with its two woodland trails that wind through the forest, along bluffs, and across glades.

A set of 315 stone steps lead down toward Lake Taneycomo along a path that features a waterfall and cave. The property also features almost 2,000 feet of hand-built stone walls. The park is located off Fall Creek Road just south of Highway 76.

Hours: 7 am – 8 pm and in winter 7 am – 5 pm

You can take a free trolley in Branson.

Discovery Trolley

FREE trolley service that loops throughout the Heart of Branson, (The Historic District), and has a drop off / pick up service to Branson Landing.

Hours: March- Dec. 9 am – 6 pm on Thanksgiving and Christmas. In Jan. and Feb. the schedule is limited weather permitting, please call for availability.

Moonshine Beach

Visitors can enjoy the sandy and pebble beach, located on the shores of Table Rock Lake, which allows families to swim, sun and enjoy beautiful views.

Hours: 9 am – 8 pm

Admission: $5 per vehicle

Branson Centennial Museum

This museum, which is completely free to visit, explores the timeline of Branson from its simple roots to the popular vacation destination it is today. Likewise, there are rotating exhibits that focus on everything from what makes Branson unique to the stories behind some of its biggest musical entertainers.

Hours: Saturday – Monday 10 am – 4 pm and closed Sundays
