Black History Month: Ivory Crockett Park Walk

The park is named for Ivory Crockett once known as the “world’s fastest man” when he broke the world record for the 100-yard dash in 1974.

It is a small park near Manchester Road where you can do an easy loop walk.

This is a .4 mile paved walk with 10 feet of elevation gain going by fields and a playground.

Start of Walk

I parked in the lot along Bell Avenue. I went to the right in front of the tennis and basketball courts.

Next, I made a left to the right of the courts and passed by a playground with slides, climbing structures, and swings.

Loop Section

After passing by the playground I came to the main loop and made a left.

I headed to the right of a baseball field with trees on the left going up to a hillside.

The paved path goes around the fields.

Heading Back

I came to an intersection. You could go to the right to shorten the walk. I kept going along the path coming to a street intersection where I went to the right passing by a wooden picnic shelter.

Then I was back at the parking lot.

Final Thoughts

This is a short walk near shopping areas. It is an easy-to-do loop with small kids or a stroller. You could do it a few times to get some exercise. Seasonal restrooms are located by the playground.
